What is a Robotic Kitchen  – Background and Concept

Moley Robotics was founded in 2015 by London-based Russian computer scientist, robotics and healthcare innovator Dr. Mark Oleynik. It is said by the company to be the world’s first robotic kitchen!

The Robotic Kitchen operates with arms that make the food you request based on an extensive digital library of recipes covering cuisine from all over the world. Moley Robotic KitchenMenu’s will be found online that will be compatible with the Moley Robotic Kitchen. It is anticipated that famous TV chef’s to your amateur hobby cook will be able to create and upload a recipe plan for use with the Moley Robot.

Moley Robotic Kitchen – How does it work?

The design is a pair of fully functioning robotic hands reproducing similar movement and speed to that of a human’s hands.

Holey Moley, indeed!

Moley worked in conjunction with BBC TV’s 2011 Master Chef winner, Tim Anderson. His hand movement and motion when concocting a dish and following a recipe were recorded on the Moley system which was then designed to imitate these movements and motion into the Moley Kitchens robotic hands.

Moley Robotic Kitchen – Available in 2018 for the Public?

The consumer version to be available sometime in 2018, according to the Moley website. It will have four key integrated kitchen functions – the robotic arms, oven, hob and touchscreen unit. Moley Robotic KitchenIt will also be linked with and be able to be operated via an app on your mobile phone or by a touchscreen on the Moley system.

Security has also been considered for the Moley Robotic Kitchen with the robotic arms not only retracting away out of sight but also a glass screen will slide across to enclose the unit when not in use.

The kitchen is operated by its touch screen or remotely via smartphone. When not in use, the robotic arms retract from view. In robotic use, glass screens glide across the unit, enclosing it for safe use when there’s no-one home.

Moley Robotic Kitchen – How Much Will It Cost?

At this stage official pricing hasn’t been released but it is believed to be comparable to the cost of a new kitchen with prices mentioned online are currently between $35,000 to $75,000 where it is anticipated this would include a full new kitchen re-fit. We will update as and when we know more.
