In the AHEAD project, TECNALIA has developed an advanced robotic crawler that can move on top of the aeronautic panel and perform drilling operations with the same quality as a machine tool.

The underlying concept is that of portable machine tool: to perform small drilling operations, one doesn’t need a huge and costly gantry machine tool: a lightweight mobile system is cheaper and more efficient.
